Planning a trip to Disneyland Paris is exciting… but choosing the right hotel can feel surprisingly overwhelming.
Do you want to be right by the park gates?
Something calmer for downtime?
A hotel that works better for younger children, SEND needs, or tighter budgets?
The truth is: there isn’t one “best” hotel. There’s only the one that fits your family best.
As a Disney specialist — and a mum who knows how much the hotel choice affects the whole trip — here’s my honest guide to the best Disneyland Paris hotels for families, and how to choose confidently.
Value level: ££££ (Premium)
Best for: Luxury, convenience & full immersion
This is the showstopper. Sitting right at the entrance to Disneyland Park, the newly refurbished Disneyland Hotel is pure Disney magic from the moment you arrive.
It’s elegant, immersive, and incredibly convenient — especially with younger children.
Why families love it:
Literally steps from the park gates
Calm, beautifully themed interiors

Things to consider:
Highest price point
Limited availability in peak seasons
Perfect if: You want maximum magic with minimum walking.

Warm, woodland-themed and especially lovely in autumn and winter, Sequoia Lodge feels grounding after busy park days.

Perfect if: You want warmth, calm and value combined.
Value level: ££ (Budget-friendly on-site)
Best for: Younger children & Toy Story fans
Toy Story fans LOVE this one. It’s one of the most affordable on-site hotels, but still very Disney.
Why families love it:
Toy Story theming
Affordable pricing
Disney perks included
Shuttle buses to the parks
Things to consider:
No air conditioning
Slightly longer walk
Perfect if: You want Disney magic without luxury pricing.
Value level: £ (Lowest on-site price)
Best for: Value & simplicity
I’ve personally stayed at Santa Fe — and honestly, it worked brilliantly for us.
It wasn’t much more expensive than staying off-site. But the difference in ease? Huge.
The Disney shuttle buses were simple and regular. We even walked some days. No stress, no overcrowded shared transport.
Why families love it:
Cars-themed rooms
One of the cheapest Disney hotels
Easy shuttle or walk
Straightforward and functional
Things to consider:
Basic rooms
No air conditioning
Less immersive than premium hotels
Perfect if: You want on-site perks at the lowest cost.
For most of my families, once everything is compared properly, Santa Fe or Cheyenne often work out very similar in cost to off-site — but far easier. I talk more about this in my guide to doing Disneyland Paris on a budget without ruining the magic.
I had a family insist on staying at Explorers Hotel after seeing pictures online.
The reality?
They hated the shuttle queues.
All off-site hotels share buses.
There were overcrowding issues and pushing at peak times.
They ended up paying for Ubers — which made the trip more expensive than staying on-site in the first place.
And they missed:
Extra Magic Time
Character experiences
Staying in the Disney bubble
That’s why I always look beyond headline prices.
Value level: ££ (For space & independence)
Best for: Longer stays, SEND needs & self-catering
I once worked with a family doing a two-week trip with severe SEND needs.
They needed:
A car
Self-catering
Space to regulate
Flexibility around dietary requirements
We combined Eurocamp with Davy Crockett Ranch so they had:
On-site Disney perks
Independence
Calm space
Room to breathe
It worked beautifully.
Sometimes the best Disneyland Paris hotel for families isn’t the most themed — it’s the one that supports the child.
Environment matters more than people realise.
From experience:
Sequoia Lodge – often calmer
Newport Bay – good for space
Santa Fe – good for shorter routine-based stays
Davy Crockett – excellent for regulation & independence
Shuttle queues at off-site hotels can sometimes be more overwhelming than the parks themselves.
For mobility needs, Disney hotels are excellent with accessible rooms and genuinely helpful staff.
Hotel choice can make or break the trip.
If you’re still in early planning stages, my free Disneyland Paris planning guide walks you through hotels, tickets and timings step by step.
Is it worth staying on-site at Disneyland Paris?
For many families, yes. Once transport, time saved and Extra Magic Time are factored in, it often works out better value.
Are the cheaper Disney hotels too basic?
They’re simpler — but still include Disney perks and theming. For many families, they’re the smartest choice.
Which hotel is easiest with children?
Usually the ones closest to the parks or with the simplest transport — which is why on-site often wins.
Luxury & convenience → Disneyland Hotel
Marvel fans → Hotel New York
Space & calm → Newport Bay
Cozy value → Sequoia Lodge
Budget-friendly → Cheyenne
Lowest on-site price → Santa Fe
SEND & space → Davy Crockett / Villages Nature
Choosing the best Disneyland Paris hotel for families isn’t about picking the most expensive — it’s about picking what works.
